About the Pattern:
Based on an original in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, this pattern was likely made for export to Brazilian and Portuguese markets by the Chinese. It would become one of the most highly prized patterns of the 18th century. Mottahedeh created this pattern using 27 colors and 22kt gold to create a colorful, timeless design with tobacco leaves, exotic flowers, and phoenix birds.
