An antique indication of wealth and status, vinaigrettes were made from sterling silver with gold cages to hold sponges soaked with exotic perfumes. This English vinaigrette made by Nathaniel Mills circa 1840, this diminutive vinaigrette has a variety of textures with a small monogram plaque. The book-like hinge construction opens to a pierced yellow gold grate with floral patterning, which hinges on the short side of the piece.
This vinaigrette is one of hundreds of pieces of sterling that are available at our location in Grandview! Come in today and see the full collection.
